Lab time will also encompass training on torch cutting, fabrication techniques, tolerances, measurements, machine operation and maintenance. Students will have the opportunity at the end of their training to test in accordance with the appropriate industry codes (AWS, ASME). Upon successful completion of the course and the certification test, the student will receive a welder’s certification record reflecting the parameters for which they are qualified to weld.
Classroom time will begin with a focus on welding fundamentals including safety, equipment and electrical principles. Students will learn blueprint reading, shop drawings, related math and weld symbols. Welding processes will be covered in depth using a combination of textbooks, media and visual aids.
